What’s the point in this all?

You turn into a clutter of bytes

Crown things that are dumb, flat and fake
You don’t understand the word “break”
It’s hard to find people inside

You help them make money, that’s truth

You turn into a clutter of bytes
Every single day, humanity generates over 350 petabytes of digital data-a relentless flood of recycled noise that perfectly illustrates the decay of modern internet. Originality has been replaced by endless reposting: 10-minute videos chopped into 15-second Reels, music tracks shredded into micro-hooks, and the exact same content re-uploaded across five different platforms to satisfy algorithms. Hyperscale data centers burn gigawatts of energy daily to store zettabytes of redundant digital trash that must exist “forever,” forcing massive server farms to expand infinitely just to house an ocean of duplicate noise.

Every line of text, audio stem, facial expression or data sheet uploaded online is quietly harvested. Corporate Terms of Service on Meta, X, Google (including YouTube), Spotify, and Reddit contain opt-out-by-default or mandatory clauses that grant AI models blanket permission to scrape user content. Furthermore, around 80% of the entire world’s cloud infrastructure and internet hosting is concentrated in the centralized silos of just three tech giants (Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud). Even if you stay off those platforms, commercial crawlers scrape over 80% of the public web into these centralized silos under the legal fig leaf of “fair use” – turning living human craft into free training data for synthetic replacements.

Algorithmic curation systematically amplifies ragebait, brainrot, and manufactured drama while forcing serious artists, experts, and professionals to perform like circus clowns and stay “up-to-date” almost 24/7. To get a crumb of algorithmic reach, educated adults and skilled creators are expected to do 20-second lip-sync dances, point at floating text, make exaggerated reaction faces and repost content they have uploaded in the past. Real craft, technical mastery, and intellectual depth and are flattened and hidden, while theatrical absurdity and plastic personas are crowned as the standard.

Algorithms treat human rest as an offense and punish stillness with digital death. Studies on creator economy metrics show that pausing uploads for just 3 to 5 days can slash a channel鈥檚 algorithmic reach by 50% to 80%, instantly destroying months of built momentum. Over 83% of digital creators report severe burnout due to this forced consistency. The system is incapable of understanding creative gestation or recovery – if you don’t feed the feed non-stop, the machine buries you.
It’s hard to find people inside
The ‘Dead Internet Theory’ is no longer a fringe idea – it is a measurable metric proving the decay of modern internet. According to global cybersecurity reports (such as Imperva’s Bad Bot Report), nearly 50% of all global internet traffic is generated by bots, web scrapers, and automated scripts. You are no longer interacting with a thriving global community; you are shouting into a simulated hall of mirrors where half of the accounts, comments, and engagement spikes are synthetic ghosts programmed to mimic human activity.
It seems like they all have just died
Passive consumption has completely replaced human connection. The classic online community “90-9-1 rule” has degraded into total apathy: 99% of users lurk in a dopamine-induced trance, scrolling endlessly without ever commenting, creating, or engaging. The audience has been numbed into digital zombies, while algorithms intentionally feed them artificial outrage just to trigger a brief, toxic blip of activity among the remaining 1%.
You help them make money, that’s truth
Yes, some creators and digital businesses manage to make a living online, but they are fighting for breadcrumbs. For every dollar a creator or business generates on these networks, tech monopolies take the lion’s share through cloud subscriptions, platform taxes, ad commissions, and silent data monetization. Platforms rake in tens of billions in quarterly profits by selling human attention, while paying the actual value-creators fractions. Not to mention the fact that sustaining online businesses demands
But look what you’ve done to the youth
We are witnessing an unprecedented mental health crisis directly tied to screen saturation. According to the CDC鈥檚 Youth Risk Behavior Data, nearly 57% of teenage girls report persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness – a 60% surge over a decade of smartphone dominance. Pew Research indicates that 46% of teens are online “almost constantly.” As documented in Childhood 2.0, an entire generation is suffering from shattered attention spans, dopamine addiction, and severe social atrophy. Taxpayers spend millions building physical sports fields, parks, and youth centers, yet kids are trapped indoors, preferring to scroll TikTok or play Roblox in isolation rather than kick a ball outside.
I really don’t know what to do
Actually, that’s a lie (first on my entire website!) – I know exactly what to do to fight against the decay of modern internet. I refuse to play this circus game, act like a clown for engagement, or feed my soul to corporate scrapers. But that is surely not enough! That is why I am designing a Sanctuary – a sovereign, human-only digital ecosystem built on direct connection, raw artistry, and absolute independence from algorithmic (and not only…) slavery.
